July and part of August

It’s been too long since the last update, but in my defense, I’ve been busy!  Haha, nobody believes that.  Would you believe “worst wifi connections ever?”

It's a bad day when they have to pick up the contents of your van using a tractor and a dumpster.
I’d been camping in central Washington, but when the temps and fire danger got high enough, I headed to Gig Harbor, where Carl and Jana generously allowed me to hide from the fireworks and high heat.   It’s always great to see them, and they always make me feel welcome, no small feat, I’m sure.  Thank you very much.
Steel the Cat was totally thrilled to see me.

Ever see a smiling pig sign or statue at a BBQ restaurant?  I'm sure the pigs are never that happy about BBQ.

Didn't get to speak to the riders but that is a lot of stuff on a bicycle!   During my ride next spring, the entire load will be less than they have on the rear rack.

Vacation houseboat?

My sister.

3/6.  Bad lighting.  Still fun.

I was standing near the top of the ladder when the left leg quit work, dumping me on the concrete.  Two and a half weeks later, I still have a slight limp in certain shoes.  The concrete made a complete recovery.

It was 40 miles to "town" and I had a gallon in the tank when I left camp.

I was still lingering in Washington since my jury duty.  Always, just a couple weeks away, another good reason to be there.  Eventually though, the reasons ran out.  And suddenly there was a reason to be somewhere else.  An invitation to work at the Tour of Utah bicycle race for the Jelly Belly Team.  How could I say no?  I had to be somewhere.  Might as well be there.

But that was last week.  This week I’m driving south.  It was hot in Utah, so naturally I’m headed to Arizona for some relief.  Seriously.  I’ll be camping and riding in the northeastern part of the state where high elevation keeps high temps below 80.  U.V. index might be through the roof though.

Then it’s on to New Mexico for some house sitting combined with working out and training for a big bicycle tour tentatively scheduled for next spring.  Check back later for more details!

Riding the Slick Rock Trail in Moab.  If you are a mountain biker, this place needs to be on your vacation schedule.
